Most People Are Stupid -- What Do You Think?

I think a good many people are just plain stupid. I do not think I am better than other people. I do not think God loves me more than other people. I don't think God loves anyone more than anyone else. I think we are all equal in the basic sense of it all. I do not know how to quantify this very well so I just be blunt and move on. I think most people are stupid. It is not that they are retarded or biologically or genetically less, it is just that they behave less.

They do not think; they do not try to think. They live their life about six inches...

They live their life about six inches in front of their face. Most decisions they make are not thought out any farther than the first step or maybe the second. They do not look down the road; they just wander along. I think their behavior (or lack thereof) is very unfortunate and that is why I think people are stupid. They just do not do it and they do not want to do it. And the farther down the food chain of people you go, if you will allow me that term, the worse it gets. You look at educated people, people who are in managerial or professional positions or some form of responsible kind of work. Many of these are trying to do pretty well, sort of. Then you look farther down the food chain. There are people who do not have any purpose in life, or they are just going around as happily as they can, a little selfish, just racing from one attempted pleasure to another. Then farther down the food chain we find the criminals and the dopers and the child abusers, and then the terrorists. And the terrorists do think about things, at least some of them, believing their cause is just.

The other thing is many leaders, plan and look ahead but the soldiers- the ones carrying out the orders-they do not. My thing is that most people are just stupid, and they do not need to be. That is the sad thing. On my list of irritants is the sadness that most people are capable of much more than they do. Another really sad problem that the people who actually are not stupid (retarded)- often do look ahead, or try. They try to plan and think about things. But they have low self-opinions or limited self-confidence. Whatever their skills, their education, their training, the try to live life beyond six inches beyond their nose. But their efforts are hampered because of those psychological self-limitations. I think it is really sad.

Then you see people, many, many, many people who are professionals, hard working, competent, reasonable, sensible people, who just really seem to wander in life. I have wandered enough myself. When I wander, I do not like myself very much. I wonder how others feel, deep inside, when they are wanderers on the land. Personally, I like the company of people who do consider consequences, who do try and do their best because those people fit my personality.

The problem with people who do look ahead and consider consequences is there is a great potential to become a 'worry wart' and obsess about not doing something just right. We do not want to be stupid about this situation, whatever the situation may be. So have a risk, people like I, have the risk of going overboard and developing psychological stress because of the effort to plan and consider consequences and to think about things; to look at life beyond six inches from your nose. Just for the record, happily I will take my stress and anxiety to go overboard sometimes rather than doing a three point landing on my nose every other day because I did not think about what could happen. Smash! Here I am one more time on the nose. I like people who think about the future and what they should do and how to do it best. WHERE ARE YOU IN THIS DISCUSSION?
