Thinking is how we manage the world. Thinking is how we interact with the world. Thinking is how we control and direct our own life. Thinking is how social control occurs. Every action, every behavior is preceded by a thought -- more correctly, a train of thoughts.
Every decision is the result of a thinking process, much of which develops from the mental maps that we have in our heads. These maps have developed over time. One of the major reasons bad or destructive decisions are made is because many of the mental maps which underly a decision making process have become so automatic that we do not realize their use. Even when we realize a bad decision has been made, we are often powerless to alter the next decision making process for the better because we do not recognize our mental maps.
The next posts will be to the issue of mental or cognitive maps -- the process of thinking -- which leads to thoughts, beliefs, opinions, feelings, and ultimately decisions.
