The Oldest Profession

Perhaps the so called "world's oldest profession" is not confined to the human specie. New research suggests other male life forms on this planet utilize 'payment' to get what they want. Maybe we are all "monkeys."

Why Does Microsoft Want/Need Yahoo?

Maybe Microsoft wants:
1. Email Client. I guess that means Microsoft knows how jacked up Hotmail is.
2. Search Engine. Maybe the Microsoft ego thinks it can outrun Google.
3. Monopoly Lust. Desire for world domination.
4. Apple Pressure. Feeling world domination slipping.
5. Be All Things To All People. Specialized and make something work well? What have you been smoking??? Microsoft does not have the words "specialize" or "work well" in their software catalog.

Imagine a few results if Microsoft acquires Yahoo:
1. Email that crashes regularly.
2. Email, search, news, maps, calendar, media player, etc all seamlessly integrated, but nothing works unless you install the latest fixes.
3. More Microsoft bugs. Great opportunity to send them error messages so they can produce more fixes. All of us "allowed" to be honorary software engineers helping them debug their software.
4. Email DLLs.
5. More propaganda about why we should all be riding Vista into the sunset.
6. This list never ends.....

What of the "Torture" Issue in the US?

When does the individual's rights for protection under the United States' Constitution allow the individual to injure others protected by that constitution? And when does the police state have the right, if ever, to take away the individual's rights in order to protect the greater society?

Agree or not, comments by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in an interview with the BBC should be considered.

My Take: We spend so much effort protecting individual rights that we sometimes lose sight of expecting individual responsibilities.

Do You Talk To Yourself?

Do you talk to yourself? There are a multitude of websites which suggest that "self-talk" is a beneficial way to improve your self-esteem, assuming you say nice things to yourself. Do a Google search on talk to yourself and see what you find. When I was a boy, it was popular to believe that if you talked to yourself and then answered yourself, the fellows in the white coats will come, put you into the nut house, and throw away the key. Whatever!!!

I talk to myself...all the time. And I answer myself! Why, you ask? Two reasons: First, I am the only one I believe. I do not think the rest of the world has a clue about what I need. Second, and more important, I am the only one I trust. Why am I going to put my life in the hands of some Bozo who knows nothing about me? The problem with Bozos is that they "believe" they know it all and especially know what you or I need. And they can be VERY convincing about what they "know." That is the definition of a Bozo: Persons who think they know what they really do not know!
Do not misunderstand. I listen to other's thoughts....much of which is dribble...but I listen. even to the Bozos. Every now and then a gem pops out of their mouth, but....

Get a life. Trust yourself...Listen, but follow your heart.
