One Very Sad Story

Here is the story from CNN Europe of a father in Austria, now age 73, who imprisoned his own daughter in the basement of his home, now age 42, when she was age 18 and father's seven children by her. The father told the mother that the daughter had run away, when in fact he had drugged her and locked her into the basement. One of the children died, three still lived with the mother in the basement and had NEVER seen daylight, and three lived with the father and his wife (mother of the imprisoned daughter). The father brought the three children up from the basement who lived with he and their grandmother and told the story that the daughter had dropped them on the doorstep. The police reported that the mother and the three children had no idea of those living in the basement, as the father had commanded them not to go into the basement; the living quarters having been concealed behind an electronically controlled door.

It is not comprehensible to me how this man could psychologically survive such a situation unless he was completely amoral and without any affection at all. Evil runs rampant!

WalMart and World Domination

walmart_logo2.gif I have been thinking...I know, I know! I avoid it as much as possible. BUT.....I think we all need to stop shopping at WalMart. I mean, I go there twice a week, minimum. They sell everything, except moon rockets, ocean water, and nuclear submarines (and I heard they were trying to do a deal for the submarines)! If we do not stop packing money into the WalMart coffers, within five years there will be three political parties in the USA: Democrats, Republicans, and WalMarteans....with the WalMarteans in control of both houses and the presidency!!! I'M TELLING YOU!!! DO NOT SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED!!!! :-)

IKEA vs. WalMart

IKEA_logo.gif       VS.       walmart_logo2.gif
Yesterday I wrote about WalMart taking over the USA. Well.....IKEA is after the world! They have stores EVERYWHERE. Just look at the IKEA homepage. A friend of mine calls IKEA "commando shopping" because the store is arranged so that once you go in, you must pass by all the merchandise in order to get out. I will say one thing: The Swedish Meatballs in the cafeteria are wonderful!

McDonald's: Fast Food King

McDonald%27s_Logo.png Have you been to McDonald's to eat lately? Did you know that the last time you went, you were only one of about 47,000,000 other people (give or take a few depending upon the weather) who went on that day?

My Mayan Date of Birth

On another blog I do (Mormon Psychologist) I talked about the Mayan Culture, and particularly about the Mayan Calendar; which calendar is far more accurate than our own. Below is my birthday, a la the Mayan Calendar! Should you want to do your own birth date, here you can find the Conversion Tools.

BTW...the Mayan Calendar predicts that the end of the earth will occur on December 12, 2012 which, by the way, is a Wednesday. Thought I would tell you in case you were thinking of any long term investments! flyingSmily.gif

Blogging Has Psychotherapeutic Benefits?

You knew it would happen...sooner or later. Blogging has become so wide spread, that psychologists, neuropsychologists, and other bio- and behavioral scientists are doing research on the subject. Seems there are mental benefits to blogging, as reported in this Scientific American article.

I offer two questions:
1. Does blogging just make you "feel better?" AND/OR Does it significantly improve brain chemistry? Both are reported.
2. If blogging has true psychotherapeutic benefits, WHY are you paying $150/hour every week to support your psychotherapist. A listening ear could not be worth that much. Think what you could do with an extra $600 a month!!! (ooops...there goes my bank account.)

Maybe you should dump your therapist, start blogging, and use the 600 bucks on something you would REALLY like!
