My Short List
Do you have a short list? "A what?" you ask. A Short List. A listing of people in your life whom you consider special, salt of the earth types....those few people who are TRULY decent human beings....who would give someone the shirt off their back in freezing snow storm and not think twice or whine about it. If you look real hard, there are very few people like that around. Only four people on my short list. And what qualifies to be on my list?
*Kind: Stand for their rights, but do not take away yours.
*Giving/Helpful: to anyone in need with NO THOUGHT of race, culture, gender, religion, social status...AND.....no expectation of anything in return.
Honest: Including never stealing from anyone which, in my book, includes no gossip or the stealing of someone's good name or positive perception from others.
Faithful: Strong recognition they are not the center of the universe.....even in their own home. They see power and influence beyond themselves in friends, community, nation, and God.
Trustworthy: Stick to their guns. If they say they will do something they do it, no matter the odds. You NEVER have to worry about them.
Would you fit on my short list? Sadly I would not.
