Whenever DOC would do something stupid or beg for something of which GW did not approve, DOC’s father would say:
Just because everyone else jumps off a cliff doesn’t mean you have to!
DOC does not know how may times he heard that saying as a youth. It got to where he would say it (to himself in his mind…”Yeah, I head that one before.”) But he would never say that out loud. Did not want to incur GW’s wrath. Over time, he came to understand the truth behind the saying:
Wisdom is doing what is right, as opposed to doing what is popular.
